Cortana will be four years old this year and for the most part is a house dog. The only times she goes outside is so that she can do her “business” and then often she likes to lay out in the sun, but usually she is in the house with me. We cuddle a lot, I work on the computer and she lays on top of me.
During the winter even though we live in Texas, I have to make sure that she gets extra care.
For Cortana I have to make sure that she eats extra, because she does get cold I have to make sure that she gets extra calories. Also since Cortana loves to take baths I have to dry her off extra good when it is cold outside, I don’t want to risk her getting sick. There are also many hazards to watch for with dogs such as embers from the fireplace because they like to sleep near them and get warm and also to watch out for ice and dangers outside such as rock salt and antifreeze. Though I don’t have to worry about those things as much with Cortana, because she seems to have an aversion to going up and down stairs and near stuff she is not familiar with. And with all of the extras we have to do for the winter months using petmeds coupon to help with the extra care costs.
Winter is also a good time for checkups for dogs and cats because that is when they are in the house the most and should be checked for all of the different kinds of worms for preventative measures.
