I know my kid thinks I have lost my mind and I have totally accepted it.
But that doesn’t think that his “are you crazy” looks he gives me doesn’t give me satisfaction.
Let me just add this though I don’t do anything to embarrass my kids in public like wear bright pink muumuus or a house coat. I don’t even say anything loud or crazy to them in public unless you count serenading them in the car with the greatest hits of New Kids On The Block. I am guilty of that, my kids really love “Please Don’t Go Girl” (lots of sarcasm).
What amuses me to no end though is the logical nature of my oldest child. With my youngest child you can say something silly and off the wall and he thinks it is hilarious and goes along with it and will you build this crazy fun story. Like a few nights ago we had this whole thing going about aliens and needing to make tin foil hats. That is on our agenda for Christmas vacation.
But with my oldest child, he is so logical and serious that it is hilarious to say funny stuff to him and have him roll his eyes and get exasperated.
This evening we were having this conversation and I can’t even remember exactly what it was about but the last part involved me telling him the cat was going to stick him.
Me: Well, if you don’t (I can’t remember what) then the cat is going to stick you.
Wes: He is a cat. He can’t stick me.
Me: Do you doubt the cat?. That cat is hardcore he will do it.
Wes: No he can’t. (I don’t even know what he is still arguing.)
The cat: (because we both turn to him and is an innocent kitten) Meow.
Me: See I told you.
And then Wes totally turned and threw his hands up and went to bed.
And please don’t condemn me because I joked around with my kid about the cat stabbing him. At least I didn’t say the cat was going to shank him. Knowing him though he probably knows what it means. I love my kid and would totally try to talk the cat out of sticking him.
Disclosure: The cat could totally not stick my kid, I am watching the cat get pissed off and frustrated right this minute because he can’t figure out how to climb the Christmas tree. He is practically growling at it and I am laughing. I feel kind of bad for him, the poor cat has never went outside or climbed a tree.
